In a bid to promote global education and empower talented individuals, the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK, is extending an opportunity to Nigerian students interested in pursuing their master’s programs. The David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health, fully funded by the University of East Anglia, offer a substantial £33,150 (approximately N44.3 million) scholarship along with a flight allowance of £4000 (approximately N5.3 million).

This initiative is particularly beneficial for Nigerian students who aspire to pursue their master’s degrees on scholarship. This will cover not only tuition but also travel expenses. The scholarships are specifically aimed at candidates interested in undertaking an MSc in Plant Health at the University of East Anglia for the academic year 2024/2025.

Apart from the financial support, the scholarship package encompasses various benefits, including living stipends and transportation allowances. Candidates are automatically considered for the scholarship upon meeting the eligibility criteria and being accepted into the University of East Anglia.

The evaluation process for the scholarship considers academic achievement, awards, and proficiency in molecular biology, genetics, data science, laboratory skills, and independent study. This ensures that deserving candidates with exceptional potential are given due consideration.

The University offers other kinds of scholarships to African students. One such opportunity is the “UEA Sub-Saharan Africa Award.” This scholarship is for postgraduate students from Sub-Saharan Africa who meet specific entry requirements. It covers full international fees along with a maintenance grant. The selected courses for this scholarship are in Creative Writing, including Prose Fiction, Poetry, Scriptwriting, and Biography & Creative Non-Fiction. The scholarship deadline falls on May 1st, 2024.

There’s also the “British Council GREAT Scholarships” for postgraduate taught students from Bangladesh, Ghana, Nigeria, and India. For students from these nations, the scholarship provides a £10,000 award. The eligibility criteria vary slightly depending on the applicant’s nationality and the degree program they intend to pursue. For instance, Indian nationals are eligible for any UEA Science or Technology postgraduate taught degree, while candidates from Bangladesh, Ghana, and Nigeria can apply for any UEA postgraduate degree.

The University of East Anglia, founded in 1963, is renowned for its academic excellence and is situated in the historic city of Norwich in the east of England.
