Globally, it is feared that about 80,000 people in about 50 countries have been infected by the virus whose origin is traced back to Wuhan China, and about 2900 people have died from the virus; the first case in Sub-Saharan Africa was recorded in Lagos Nigeria on 25th of February when an Italian who flew into the country was positive of the said virus. Authorities say he is in a none life-threatening condition.

Other countries who have recorded the COVID-19 virus presence in Africa include Egypt and Algeria. The citizens of Nigeria, especially in Lagos state are in a silent panic as no one knows why airlines from infected countries were not banned or restricted and quarantined for check-up immediately after landing because in all cases of deadly viruses from HIV to Ebola and the COVID-19, they were all brought to the country by foreign nationals and its so alarming.
