Ugiri / Daji mangoro / Igbo mango

Bush mango known as ugiri in Igbo language, daji mangoro in Hausa language and Igbo mango in Yoruba is a crispy mango fruit indigenous to Africa.

It has a fleshy fruit often used to make wine, and it is a good source of fat, carbohydrates and fiber. It is high in vitamin C. Studies have shown that Bush Mango supplements can help with weight loss, lower cholesterol, and improve control of diabetes.

All parts of the Bush mango tree are used for a variety of purposes:

  • The fleshy part and pulp of the fruit is consumed as food or used to make jams, juice, and wine.
  • The seeds are eaten raw or used to prepare different foods and supplements.
  • The roots, bark, leaves, and seeds are used to make traditional medicines.
